Veli Lošinj is located in a narrow protected bay, at the foot of Mount St. John. Stately houses rise above the harbour, with luxurious villas and green gardens as a background. The tiny fishermen’s village of Rovenska with an excellent beach is located to the south of the city. Lošinj island is located in the Kvarner Gulf, between the Istria peninsular and the Dalmatian coast, and is surrounded by the belt of small isles.
Two of its main cities are Mali and Veli Lošinj. The mild climate, no winters or strong winds, maritime air and irregular coastline attract many yachtsmen.
